1. Where is Rugg Rats Preschool located?

Rugg Rats Preschool is located at 125 E. Illinois Avenue in Southern Pines, North Carolina.

2. What is Rugg Rats Preschool's approach to learning?

We provide a safe, nurturing, and educational environment where children can learn, grow, and explore. Our child-centered curriculum focuses on each child's individual needs and interests. Due to our low ratios we are able to give more individualized curriculum to our children and meet them where they are at. We do not offer a one-size fits all approach, every child is unique and deserves to learn at their own pace.

3. What ages of children do you serve?

Our classroom includes a mixed-age group of children. Please contact us directly to confirm whether we have a placement available for your child's age.

4. What does a typical day at Rugg Rats look like?

Our daily schedule includes morning work, circle time, learning stations, snack, indoor and outdoor free play, lunch, story time, and STEM building activities.

5. What are the monthly tuition rates?

6. Is there a registration fee?

Yes. A one-time, nonrefundable registration fee of $200 is due at the time of enrollment.

7. What is included in tuition?

Tuition includes a daily snack, lunch, and the materials children use for learning and activities.

8. Is tuition still due when my child is absent or we go on vacation?

Yes. Full payment is required to maintain your child's spot in the program, regardless of vacations, travel, illness, or unexpected closures.

9. How much notice is required if we need to change or end enrollment?

Please provide at least 30 days' notice if you anticipate a change in your child's enrollment.

10. What time is drop-off and pick-up?

Our daily program begins with drop-off at 9:00 a.m. and ends with pick-up at 1:00 p.m.

11. Where should I drop off and pick up my child?

Please drop off and pick up your child at the front door. This helps minimize disruptions to children learning in the classroom.

12. Can I drop my child off early?

Please do not drop off your child before your agreed-upon drop-off time.

13. What should my child bring to school?

Please bring the following items:

A change of clothing to keep at school.
A labeled pack of diapers and wipes, if your child wears diapers.
A water bottle each day.

Your child's extra clothing and diaper supplies will be labeled and stored in their cubby.

14. Does the school provide water?

Yes! Filtered water is available throughout the day to refill your child's water bottle.

15. Are meals and snacks included in tuition?

Yes. A daily snack and lunch are included in your monthly tuition.

16. When should I keep my child home from school?

Please keep your child home if they have any of the following symptoms:

A fever above 100°F.
Vomiting or diarrhea.
An unexplained rash or sores.
Discharge from the eyes, ears, or nose.
A productive cough or a dry cough lasting more than one week without medical attention.
An illness or injury that prevents them from participating in regular activities.

17. When can my child return after being sick?

Children must be symptom-free for 24 hours without medication before returning, according to the handbook's sick policy.

18. What happens if my child becomes sick at school?

If your child develops any of the symptoms listed in our sick policy while in our care, we will contact you and require immediate pick-up.

19. How does Rugg Rats communicate with parents?

We use the ProCare app to communicate with parents, manage sign-in and sign-out, and process payments. We recommend downloading the app and enabling notifications so you don't miss important updates.

20. What should I do if I have trouble using ProCare?

Please let us know if you experience any problems with the app. We'll do our best to help you work through them.

21. What is the school's behavior and discipline policy?

We recognize that every child is unique and goes through different developmental stages. However, harmful behavior toward others, significant classroom disruptions, or intentional destruction may result in termination of enrollment.
